For any jackass (Samson1156@cs.com) out there that has a problem with this being called a "High Drum", please look up the following references. There are dozens and dozens of CORRECT names for this drum, however I have only listed those that are handy. The reason I use "High Drum" is that it is the MOST common name that builders use when they are calling me for one. The second most common name is "Direct Drum." Personally, I don't like either, nor any of the other names for it, because of the potential for confusion, not to say anything about some jackass insisting that the jackass knows more than Chrysler.

I did not (and will not) list which years that this drum will fit because transmissions from later years will fit earlier years, as any jackass (Samson1156@cs.com) with junkyard experience SHOULD know. If the jackass orders a high drum by year for a 1969 car and someone has previously replaced the transmission with one out of a 1975 car, the jackass will get the WRONG drum EVERY time. And naturally the jackass will refuse to accept responsibility and will blame the parts house for the mistake that the jackass made. Since there are ONLY five different high drums for this transmission, the ONLY things needed to get the RIGHT drum the FIRST time are (1) NARROW or WIDE bushing & (2) 3-Pak, 4-Pak, or 5-Pak (Hemi). Year of vehicle is NOT needed and if used could very well cause the jackass to get the WRONG drum.

Since Mopar invented this drum, designed it, produced it, and named it, TECHNICALLY the ONLY correct name for it is "Front Clutch Retainer," which is what Mopar named it. If you are a big enough jackass to think that what YOU call it is the ONLY correct name, then you are welcome to your OPINION, but PLEASE do NOT try PLAYING God. No one likes a jackass trying to force his OPINION upon others. Only BULLIES act that way. Just because you BELIEVE something to be correct does NOT make it correct. Guess the salt water must have short-circuited a neuron somewhere. Hmmm, I wonder if the jackass is one of those "Flat-Earthers?"

Here is a good analogy about names. Since the parents of a jackass (Samson1156@cs.com) produced the jackass, and named the jackass, TECHNICALLY the ONLY correct name for the jackass is the COMPLETE name, as given on the birth certificate, including ALL parts, first, middle(s), & last. I seriously doubt that the jackass answers only to the complete given name. I suspect that the wife of the jackass calls the jackass by some other name, and NOT by the given name, like maybe "Honey," "Sugar," etc. Who knows, maybe even "Jackass!" Likewise for any children ("Father," "Dad," "Papa," etc.), friends (if any), etc. (Can you imagine Chelsea Clinton ALWAYS addressing her mother ONLY as "Hilary Rodham Clinton" and NEVER as "Mother"???) In fact, the most common name for the jackass is probably Mr. "Jackass", which is TECHNICALLY not the correct name because it is not the name bestowed upon the jackass by the parents (The birth certificate does not place "Mr." in front of the last name of the jackass). The bottom line is that EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY has dozens of different names depending upon the circumstances.

Some of the CORRECT names for this drum are: High Drum, High/Reverse Drum, Front Drum (in front part of transmission), Forward Drum (in the forward part of the transmission, not to be confused with the next drum which controls the forward MOTION of the vehicle), Kickdown Drum, Direct Drum, Reverse Drum (not to be confused with the Reverse Brake drum in the rear of the transmission), all of the above with "Clutch" inserted before "Drum," and all of the above with "Drum" replaced by "Retainer" or "Cylinder." These are just some of the American English names for this drum. When you take in to account that there are OVER 3000 languages and thousands more dialects on Earth, and EVERY one has or can have one or more DIFFERENT correct names for this drum, even a jackass should be able to see that it is IMPOSSIBLE for there to be ONLY one correct name for it.
